CAO/clerk Brenda Law to retire after 35 years with Puslinch

Puslinch Township CAO/clerk-treasurer Brenda Law tendered her resignation last week after over 35 years of service.

Law, who was hired in 1977 and has been responsible for administration and finance functions for the township, will resign effective Jan. 1.

During her career in Puslinch, she has worked with four reeves/mayors and 13 councils.

“On behalf of township council and staff I would like to thank Brenda for 35 years of outstanding municipal service,” said Mayor Dennis Lever.

“Her knowledge, professionalism and experience will be missed at the township. I wish Brenda all the best in this exciting new chapter.”

Law said, “It’s been a privilege to work with council and staff over the past 35 years. Together we have worked hard to make Puslinch a great place to live and do business. It was a difficult decision to leave, but I am looking forward to my retirement.”

Law will officially end her career at the township at the end of this calendar year. The township will begin the hiring process for her replacement this fall.

Although Puslinch had issued a press release on Aug. 31, Mayor Lever made the announcement once more in the chambers at the end of the Sept. 5 council meeting.

“In the past week, as you may know, our clerk-treasurer has decided to retire,” Lever said before reading the press release. Lever added he did expect the township to host an event to celebrate Law’s long service to the community.

“It will be upbeat and there many be some very humorous stories about what has happened over the past 35 years,” said Lever.

He quipped, “I’m sure there have been a lot of interesting things I can use to embarrass you. And I like doing that at those kinds of events.

“On behalf of the township, thank you for your service over all of these years.”
