Ever consider a bike ride from Toronto to Niagara Falls? How about raising $2,500 for cancer research? How about both?
Jason Thompson of Fergus is doing just that – again. He is participating in the second annual Ride to Conquer Cancer, which benefits Princess Margaret Hospital.
On June 12 to 14, Thompson will embark on a two-day cycle trip of over 200km through Southern Ontario from Toronto to Niagara Falls. Riders must raise at least $2,500 – all the proceeds going to the hospital to support cancer research.
His most significant fundraising event is the second annual Party to Conquer Cancer at the Fergus Legion on Feb. 20. All proceeds go to the Princess Margaret Hospital. It runs 8pm to 1am. Tickets are $10 – available at Cherry Hill Entertainment in the Fergus Market Place. Thompson can also sell them from kajy@sympatico.ca or by calling 519-787-7680.
“The Legion will be providing the bar and I’ve arranged for a great and danceable band – Killin’ Time – to play for the night,” he said. To support the cause, visit the website at www.conquercancer.ca and enter his participant ID number 530795-7, or call 416-815-RIDE (7433).
