The Canadian Olympic men’s rowing team will be returning to Guelph Lake for a training camp this summer before leaving to compete at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
This means other boaters will have to take care as they travel around the lake.
Team members will be at Guelph Lake Conservation Area from July 21 to Aug. 1 as they make their final preparations for the Olympic Regatta in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which runs from Aug. 6 to 13.
The team will be focused on achieving its very best performance at the Olympics and distractions will be kept to a minimum, officials say.
While the team is at Guelph Lake, it will be holding three practice sessions a day in a special course set aside for their use. Practices will usually be held at 7am, 11am and 3pm for 1 to 2 hours each. In addition, the team may also row in other parts of the lake.
As a safety precaution during practice times, other boaters are asked to not to enter or cross the race course.
The training camp is being hosted by the Guelph Rowing Club, which has its home base at Guelph Lake.
