Canada”™s top literary talent to gather in Eden Mills

An eclectic group of critically-acclaimed authors representing a range of genres from literary fiction, poetry and non-fiction to memoirs and thrillers has been assembled for the Eden Mills Writers’ Festival.

Lawrence Hill, Ann-Marie MacDonald, John Vaillant, Elizabeth Hay, Andrew Pyper, Anakana Schofield, Marina Endicott, Camilla Gibb, Arleen Paré are among this year’s star-studded line-up.

With adult, teen and children’s programming, the festival offers entertainment and inspiration for all ages.

The festival will take place on Sept. 13 from noon to 6pm in Eden Mills.

Highlights will include:

– over 40 adult, teen and children’s authors reading at idyllic and scenic performance sites that provide perfect story-book settings for devoted readers to listen to their favourite authors and discover new ones;

– a celebration of Canadian poetry with a salute to Brick Books and its 40 years of publishing many of Canada’s finest poets.

– reading sets for aspiring writers and poets from the University of Guelph/Humber College MFA program and yet-to-be published authors selected through a juried process (ie. the Fringe program);

– a boisterous, interactive set poetry slam organized by the Guelph Spoken Word; and  

– with the support of the board of directors, the artistic director has pulled together a program that is “sure to ignite the imagination.”

About the festival

The Eden Mills Writers’ Festival is an annual literary festival that provides stimulating, thought-provoking and entertaining programming for all ages – children, young adults and adults, officialas state. Held every September for the past 27 years, the festival spans several days with events taking place in Eden Mills, a village of 350 people, located just outside of Guelph.
