The Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation has confirmed its ninth annual Starlight Gala on May 23 at the Harriston-Minto community complex will be the beneficiary of $61,500 contributed by 32 sponsors.
The foundation and hospital staff appreciate the strong support from the sponsors.
As well as businesses, community organizations, and individuals support the event through donations of cash and by donating items to a huge silent and live auction. Between 200 and 250 items are routinely donated.
A committee volunteer will contact those who donated last year, while others who wish to donate should contact the hospital at 519-343-2030 and ask for the foundation office.
The Royal Canadian Legion – Frank Lambier Branch 409 in Palmerston helped get the fundraising rolling with a $5,000 donation from its poppy fund. Over the last 10 years the branch has donated $31,000 to the hospital foundation.
Each year approximately 70 volunteers work on behalf of their hospital. Last year the gala raised funds for new intravenous pumps and colonoscopy equipment, which are now being used in the hospital. Funds this year will be directed to the purchase of a new anesthetic gas machine.
The gala, with an “Evening In Paris” theme, again will feature a meal, music and entertainment. Those wishing to make a donation can contact Gary Chard or Dale Franklin, development officers with the foundation at 343-2030.
