A local bus driver has been charged after a child was struck by a vehicle here last week.

On March 21 at about 4pm emergency crews responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Wellington Road 8, west of Sideroad 18, in Mapleton.

Wellington County OPP officials say a six-year-old girl suffered “moderate, non-life-threatening injuries” when she was struck by a sedan while crossing Wellington Road 8 after exiting a school bus.

The bus driver, a 61-year-old male from Mapleton, was charged with failing to activate school bus signals.
