A recent building permit report has provided a bit of optimism for local councillors.
Year to date totals comparing building permits from January to March 2009 and those in 2010 show a construction value increase of over $1.1-million.
This year, the building permits to date have a value of nearly $3.5-million, compared to last year’s figure of just over $2 million.
Although the number of permits is up nearly 30%, Mayor Mike Broomhead considered it particularly telling that nearly one-quarter of the permit value was for single family dwellings.
“As you can see going around the communities, there’s a lot going on. It’s good News for the township.”
