On March 14 at about 5:15am, a Wellington County staff member received an alarm notification at a county property on Woolwich Street in Guelph.
Upon arrival, the staff member came across a male that had pried open a door to get inside the building.
The male had a number of laptop computers and attempted to flee, only to be cornered by the staff member in another corridor. Police were called and took the man into custody without incident.
A 43-year-old man from Guelph, whose name was not released by Guelph Police, was charged with theft as well as break and enter, possession of break and enter tools, and mischief under $5,000. He was held in custody and appeared in bail court on March 14.
Police say they connected the male to another alleged theft at a Willow Road store on March 7.
