Boy’s Canada Day lemonade sale will support autism services

FERGUS – Eight-year-old Walker Samson of Fergus is hosting a lemonade sale on July 1 at 98 Ryan Street in Fergus from 1 to 4pm.

“Half of Walker’s proceeds will be donated in support of Kerry’s Place in our community,” stated Jennifer Samson, Walker’s mother, in an email to the Advertiser.

“Walker’s little brother Reece suffers from ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), so he knows firsthand the supports and services that our family needs to access to help Reece succeed and wants to ensure other families have the same access to support as we do.”

Samson said the pandemic has been particularly hard for families who have loved ones with disabilities.

“It is Walker’s way of showing his love and support for those that have struggled along with us,” stated Jennifer.

“If he can do his part to make a difference, he can show Reece he is a good big brother, and he can be there for him and others just like him.”
