Bowling for a brighter future in Centre Wellington

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington is excited to turn down the lights and turn up the fun as they gear up for another Bowl for Kids Sake event.

“Bowl for Kids has been a traditional event for agencies across the country for a long time now because it is fun and nostalgic,” said executive director, Kristen Drexler.

“We are excited to give our event for Centre Wellington a fresh feel with new ideas to make it fun to bowl with us while making a huge impact on children in our programs”

There are three opportunities to bowl with Bowl for Kids:

– April 21 from 6 to 8pm at Melville United Church (Wii Bowling) for families and clubs;

– April 28 from 9am to 1pm at Victoria Park Seniors Centre (Wii Bowling); and

– April 30 from 9am to 4pm at Woodlawn Bowl in Guelph (10 Pin Bowling).

Traditional rivalries will continue to happen between categories like small business, and there are new opportunities for great prize packages for teams.

Teams will turn the pledges they raised into Bowl Bucks when they arrive at the tournament.  Bowl Bucks will allow them to “purchase” benefits that could put them ahead in the game over their competitors.

The money raised, the more help they get to beat another team to the prize, for example, if they raise $500 as a team, they might choose to purchase the benefit of taking 200 points from another teams score and adding it to their own, or they might choose to make someone from another team bowl with their non-dominant hand or blindfolded.

More than 150 local children participate in a Big Brothers Big Sisters program in Centre Wellington for different reasons.

Participating in Bowl for Kids Sake can help lift the hopes and aspirations of children and youth who deserve an opportunity for a better future.

Get the ball rolling.  Anyone interested in forming a team is invited to call the local Big Brothers Big Sisters office at 519-787-0106 or visit the website bigbrothersbig sisters.ca/centrewellington.
