Carter McKinley and his family invite everyone to join them at Highland Pines Campground in Belwood this Saturday, to celebrate smiles and fight for a cure at the third annual Bounce to Bounce Back fundraiser in support of neurosurgery at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids).
“Carter has had two massive hemorrhages on his brain and two brain surgeries,” said his mother, Lea McKinley.
“He has a rare disease called Cerebral Cavernous Malformation (CCM) and the lesions that cause the hemorrhages can grow and develop over time. He may never need another surgery, or he may need multiple in his lifetime. There is no cure and the only option is surgical removal – which can be very risky. SickKids has saved my son’s life – twice – and the work they’re doing is so relevant. I felt compelled to give back to express my gratitude for the work they have done and continue to do.”
Bounce to Bounce Back, now in its third year, features various events which are suitable for children of all ages.
Donations can be made at the event, online, or via email money transfers at bounce2bounceback@gmail.com.
The event runs from 10am to 4pm on July 27 at Highland Pines Campground, 8523, Wellington Road, Belwood.
