The Books for Kids campaign is underway and runs until Dec. 19.
The book drive provides new books for the thousands of children (newborn to 18) whose families receive support during the holidays from the Salvation Army, which provides food and toys for families in need.
At the same time, the book drive promotes the importance of encouraging children to read.
Literacy begins at home and books are an important tool for developing new readers.
People can donate a new children’s or youth book to any Salvation Army drop box across Waterloo-Wellington. For more information contact Project Read Literacy Network at info@projectread.ca.
