Bob Milne returns to Century Church Theatre, Hillsburgh, for the 15th year, playing two concerts on Oct. 14.
Why do people come back time and time again to hear Bob Milne? Even the theatre ushers and volunteers reserve their spots a year in advance. Recognized by many as the world’s greatest, he thrills audiences around the world with his own special brand of ragtime and gospel music. In addition to the music, he has a magical touch as a storyteller, recounting stories not only about music greats like Scott Joplin who penned this music, but about his own fascinating life as what he calls “a journeyman piano-player.” A few minutes with Milne and the audience is captivated for life. Add to this a Gourmet Afternoon Tea with spectacular baked goods, and a chance to talk with Milne, and you have the recipe for some fabulous world-class entertainment.
Milne has been featured in a PBS special, and filmed for their archives by the Library of Congress, in recognition of his unique place in musical history, and his natural talent as a charismatic entertainer. Come and be part of this history, and perhaps take home some of Milne’s CDs as a souvenir.
There will be two concerts on Oct. 14. Milne promises a one-hour concert (although he always plays for longer) at 2:30pm, followed by Gourmet Afternoon Tea. Saturday evening will see a two-hour concert at 8pm.
Tickets are $29 for either event, and may be reserved by calling the box office at 519-855-4586 or www.centurychurchtheatre.com.
