Board seeks Everyday Hero Award nominations

GUELPH – Local school communities wouldn’t be what they are without exceptional staff, students, volunteers and community members, Upper Grand District School Board officials state.

“Now’s your chance to recognize that person who goes the extra mile to make the Upper Grand an amazing place to work and learn,” the board states in a March 4 press release.

Nominations are now open for the 2019 Everyday Hero Awards.

“Tireless school volunteers, dedicated teachers, school and board staff, bus drivers who dedicate their time for our kids, crossing guards who save lives – anyone who goes above and beyond is being sought by the board to honour as an Everyday Hero,” the release states.

Eligible candidates can be employees, volunteers, or community groups active in schools across Dufferin and Wellington Counties and the City of Guelph.

Factors can include performance of duties at a high level, a significant school or system-related achievement, a specific innovation or achievement of significant value, or a unique circumstance.

Nominations are open until April 12. The awards ceremony is set for May 29 at John F. Ross in Guelph.
