Dancers from the Blue Bonnet Lassies School of Highland Dance participated in the Fergus Scottish Festival Aug. 12 and 13. The two-day competition consisted of almost 200 dancers each day.
Saturday brought a little rain, but a great effort from the dancers.
In the Beginner 8 years category Zahara Dumbreck placed fourth in Fling, and sixth in Seann Triubhas; Eila Gillies placed fifth in Seann Triubhas; and Ainsley Stewart placed fifth in Fling, and seventh in Seann Triubhas. In the Beginner 10 and under 12 years category Fiona Gillies placed sixth in fifth in Fling, and sixth in Seann Triubhas and Sword; and Avaline Booth placed fifth in Seann Triubhas.
In the Novice 13 years and over category Ashley Elliott placed third in Fling, fifth in Sword, and fourth in Seann Triubhas.
Sunday was a much brighter day, in the Beginner 8 years category Zahara Dumbreck placed fifth in Reel, Ainsley Stewart placed sixth on Lilt, and Eila Gillies placed first in both Reel and Lilt earning her the overall group trophy.
In the Beginner 10 and Under 12 Years Elle Dumbreck placed second in Flora, fifth in Lilt, and sixth in Reel; Avaline Booth placed third in Lilt, and fourth in Reel; and Fiona Gillies placed first in flora, and second in Reel and Lilt, earning herself the overall group trophy.
In the Beginner 12 years and over Ella Murray placed first in Lilt, fourth in Flora, and fifth in Reel.
In the Novice 14 years and over Ashley Elliott placed third in Reel and Flora, and fourth in Lilt.
In the special Trophy Fling competition Eila Gillies placed first winning the trophy in Beginner 8 years and Under; and Fiona Gillies placed first winning the trophy in Beginner 11 years and under.
