Highland dance - Dancers from the Blue Bonnet Lassies School of Highland Dance are in the middle of competition season. Dancers include, from left: Maribelle McBroom, Scarlett and Gabrielle Jackson, Ainsley and Kori Stewart, Eila and Fiona Gillies, Ella Murray, Avaline Booth, Ashley Elliott and Emma Horsley. Dancers competed at the Nicola McMaster Memorial Competition in Ancaster, on May 4. In the Beginner 8 and 9 years group, Gabrielle placed second in fling. In the Beginner 10 years group, Kori placed fifth in sword. In the Novice 9 years and under group, Ainsley placed sixth in flora and fling. In the Novice 10 and 11 years group, Elia placed fourth in fling and Seann Truibhas. In the Novice 12 years and over group, Booth placed sixth in sword. In the Intermediate 13 years and over group, Elliott placed sixth in Seann Truibhas. Dancers then competed at the Georgetown Highland Games, on June 8. In the Primary 5 years, Scarlett placed first in Pas de Basques, second in fling and third in Pas de Basque and Highcuts. In the Beginner 8 years, Gabrielle placed fourth in lilt, fifth in fling, and sixth in Seann Truibhas. In the Novice 9 years, Ainsley placed fifth in fling. In the Novice 10 years, Eila placed fourth in sword. In the Novice 13 years, Fiona placed second in Fling and fourth in Lilt and Sword; and Murray placed first in fling and Seann Truibhas, and second in lilt and aword, earning the overall trophy for having the most points in her group. In the Intermediate 15 and over, Elliott placed fourth in sword and sixth in Jig and Seann Truibhas. In the Novice 12 years and over, Booth placed fifth in Flora at the first ever Caledonia Celtic Festival. Submitted photo
