Blue Bonnet Lassies compete in Fergus Scottish Festival

Dancers from the Blue Bonnet Lassies School of Highland Dance competed at the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games on Aug.  11 and Aug. 12 at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.

On Saturday dancers competed in the Highland competition. In the Beginner 9 years category Ainsley Stewart placed sixth in Seann Truibhas. 

In the Novice 9 years category Eila Gillies placed third in fling and Seann Truibhas. 

In the Novice 12 and under 14 years Fiona Gillies placed fifth in Seann Truibhas. 

In the Novice 14 years and over category Ashley Elliott placed first in fling, sword and Seann Truibhas, earning her the overall trophy for the highest score in her group and the award for highest aggregate score of the day in the Novice category.

On Sunday dancers competed in the national and highland competition. 

In Beginner 9 and under 11 Years category Ainsley Stewart placed sixth in reel. 

In Beginner 11 years and over, Ella Murray placed second in lilt, and sixth in reel and flora. 

In Novice 9 years Eila Gillies placed third in lilt, fourth in flora, and fifth in reel. 

In the Novice 12 years Fiona Gillies placed second in lilt, third in flora, and sixth in reel, and Avaline Booth placed third in reel. 

Fiona also won the trophy fling for the Novice 11 Years and over category. 

In the Novice 13 years and over, Ashley Elliott placed first in lilt, and third in reel and flora, earning her the overall trophy for highest score in her group. In the Sunday afternoon Highland competition, in the Restricted Premier 15 and under 18 years, Emma Horlsey placed sixth in sword. 

 The dancers are finishing a busy, successful summer of competition, officials say. 

Earlier this summer Ainsley Stewart, Kori Stewart and Avaline Booth competed at the Kincardine Scottish Festival. Ainsley placed first in flora and Seann Truibhas, and fourth in flora. Kori placed sixth in sword. Booth also competed at the Kinmount Highland Games placing fourth in fling and Seann Truibhans in the Novice 11 and over category.
