HANOVER – The Hanover Barons have announced Blair Butchart as the team’s next general manager.
Mike Fisher, director of hockey operations for the Hanover Barons, said in a statement on June 4 that Butchart brings a wealth of junior hockey knowledge to the team.
Butchart played for the Elmira Sugar Kings and St. Marys Lincolns of the GOJHL, and the Mount Forest Patriots, where he won two PJHL Pollock Division titles.
In 176 games over four seasons with the Patriots, Butchart scored 87 goals and added 174 assists for 261 points.
In the GOJHL, Butchart scored 17 goals and added 75 assists for 92 points in 84 games split between the Sugar Kings and Lincolns over three seasons.
“This young gentleman not only shows what it takes to be a leader on the ice, but also a leader in the community,” said Fisher.
“(Butchart) hopes to help the Barons continue generating the winning culture that is coming back to our team.”
Butchart says he is looking forward to the challenge ahead of him.
“I’m super excited to take on this new challenge with the Hanover Barons,” he said.
The 22-year-old Palmerston native is currently enrolled in the sports management program at Brock University.
