Black History Month begins with Bob Marley tribute concert

FERGUS – To kick off  Black History Month and celebrate reggae legend Bob Marley’s 80th birthday, the Centre Wellington Black Committee (CWBC) is presenting a special Bob Marley tribute concert at the Fergus Grand Theatre on Feb. 1.

“This exciting event will bring together fans, musicians and the community to honour the enduring legacy of Marley, whose music continues to inspire and uplift people around the world,” organizers stated.

The concert will feature performances by Jimmy Reid and Errol Blackwood, veteran reggae singers who will deliver some of Marley’s most beloved songs, including One Love, No Woman No Cry and Buffalo Soldier.

DJ Delroy Graham, aka Delroy G, will serve as MC for the night.

“We are thrilled to celebrate Bob Marley’s 80th birthday during Black History Month,” said CWBC founder and chair Milicent Gordon.

“This tribute concert is not just about his incredible music, but also about honouring his lifelong commitment to social justice and human rights.”

The concert runs from 8 to 10pm on Feb. 1. Tickets cost $38 and are available through the Fergus Grand Theatre box office, by phone at 519-787-1981 or on the township’s website.
