Big Brothers Big Sisters plan Bowl for Kids

To anyone involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of north Wellington, February means Bowl for Kids.
That is the time organizers encourage the entire community to get involved, and come out and bowl; it is the time of year they descend on businesses to donate a door prize, and businesses respond.
This year, organizers have a goal of $60,000 in the Bowl for Kids campaign so that they can continue to provide service, free of charge to those in the community who depend on us.
The demand for the one to one match program, as well as our in-school mentoring program is increasing. At the same time, it is becoming more of a challenge to find appropriate volunteers to fill the positions.
Organizers are hoping the community will make every effort to give back childhood to children, and make sure they are valued – so that they, in turn, will grow up to be responsible caring parents, contributing members of society.
Organizers know not everyone can volunteer their time on a weekly basis as Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and in-school mentors do, but by coming to bowl in the Bowl for Kids campaign, citizens are helping out.
People may already have been approached by one of our team members to put a team in our Bowl for Kids 2008 campaign at the Mount Forest Bowling Lanes on Feb. 10 (Harriston, Palmerston, Drayton, and Clifford groups kick off for campaign),  Feb. 17 (the Mount Forest group) and Feb. 24th (Arthur).
If people have not been contacted but would like to be included, call at 323-4273. For more details and a complete prize list on our web site www.bbbsnorthwellington.org.
