BIA, festival partner on shuttlebus

The Fergus Business Improvement Area board voted unanimously to partner with the Fergus Scottish Festival and participating merchants to coordinate and sponsor the 2015 Fergus Scottish Festival Shuttlebus program.

“The shuttlebus program has been run successfully from the festival site to the downtown core since the Highland Games relocated to the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex in 1996,” says Janette Gajic’, chair of the Fergus BIA.

“It is an important component of our visitor’s experience during the festival weekend.   Supporting the festival by providing the free shuttle program is an excellent way to strengthen our ties with this deep rooted cultural event as well as introducing the many campers and visitors to our heritage downtown.”

The festival shuttlebus will operate Friday and Saturday of the Aug. 7-9 weekend. Schedules will be available on the Fergus BIA website and the Fergus Scottish Festival site.

Merchants will be able to welcome visitors to the many shops, restaurants and pubs during their stay here in Fergus.

Mary Cole of the “Lil” Fleamarket & Collectibles has volunteered to coordinate the many businesses who would like to participate in the shuttlebus program this year.

For any businesses who have not participated in the past but are  interested in being part of the shuttlebus  program, Mary can be reached at 519-635-1264 or drop by her store location at 204 St. Andrew Street West

The Fergus Scottish Festival takes place August 7-9 and the Fergus Downtown is busy preparing for the Pipes Plaid and Pageantry Parade and Party on Thursday August 6 starting at 7:30pm.
