Basement Cafe set for May 13

The Basement Café Concert Series, sponsored by the Minto Arts Council, hosts musicians Lyndon John X and Kae McTaggart on May 13 at 8pm.

At a very early age, music began to seep into the soul of John, officials say. Starting with violin, piano and finally the guitar, Lyndon’s formal education began to grow and fuse with Reggae.

“Born of Grenadian parents, the music of the Caribbean is his biggest influence,” organizers say.

“As an independent artist in a niche genre within the Rock-centric music scene in Canada, Lyndon and his team have worked diligently to deliver original roots reggae to the masses and to help the genre gain more widespread exposure on the Canadian music stage as well as on the international level.”

Small town singer, song-writer, guitarist and pianist McTaggart will open the show. She gained a passion for music at the young age of 3; instantly intrigued and lost within melodies and vocalizing every note, and then became infatuated with the expression of music and songwriting. She adds an edgy, rough and soulful sound to pop music, creating a more R&B/soul vibe to both acoustic and amped performances.

Both artists will perform at the Harriston Library in the Basement Café on May 13. Advance tickets are $20 (including unlimited tea or coffee). They are available at the Harriston Home Hardware or by calling 519-338-2497.
