The Barn Dance Historical Society of Wingham that performed to a sell-out crowd in November will return to the Norgan Theatre here with The Barn Dance Show on May 7.
Through its performances, The Barn Dance Historical Society preserves the memory of the builders, musicians and entertainers who were featured on radio and TV shows broadcast from CKNX in Wingham. The society also displays photos, artifacts, and memorabilia in its entertainment museum and supports new talent, particularly in the country music field.
Master of ceremonies Jim Swan will introduce The Barn Dance Show Band and special guests Jay Riehl, Rick Loucks, Naomi Bristow, Dan Mighton, and Fred Lewis. Also appearing are Palmerston’s Terry and Wendy Cormack.
Doors will open at 7pm for the 8pm show. Tickets at $20 ($25 at the door) are available in Palmerston at Norsco Sports, Martin Hardware, and Capri Hair Styling. The evening is a fundraiser for the Palmerston Railway Heritage Museum Association.
The association is a volunteer, not-for-profit organization committed to recognizing and celebrating Palmerston.s heritage as a major Ontario railway town.
The museum preserves railway and community memorabilia, and hosts displays by local groups in a restored Grand Trunk Railway station.
A baggage building is currently being renovated and negotiations are underway to obtain a 1904 GTR caboose. Proceeds from The Barn Dance Show will support those projects.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
They are available in Palmerston at Norsco Sports, Martin’s Hardware and Capri Hair Styling.
