Bantam AE team beats Caledon and Guelph, loses to Orangeville

On Oct. 9, the Centre Wellington Fusion Bantam AE team travelled to Caledon for a fierce battle against the Hawks.

Near the end of the first period, the Fusion scored a goal that was disallowed. Carter Hyndman was in front of the Hawks tender when he hammered the puck in and out of the net.

Unfortunately the ref was unable to confirm the goal, so it remained 0-0 after one.

In the second, Ethan Kosempel opened the scoring with a bar-down shot. It was another shot that had controversy, however the goal was allowed. Less than a minute later Daniel Newton scored a nice goal from the slot.

Both teams were throwing the body around. Two big body checks from Newton and Feltham sparked the fusion bench.

Two minutes late, Braden Graham took a nice wrist shot from the point. Koen Ashdown tipped the puck on its way by to make the game 3-0.

Caledon wasn’t ready to give up and scored two quick goals by Fusion net minder Jacob Killinger. With four minutes still left in the second, Tyler Needham scored a nice goal with the assist going to Kosempel. Thirty seconds into the third, Caledon scored another to close the scoring gap to 4-3. Killinger shut the door after that and Fusion was able to skate away with a 4-3 victory.

On Oct. 15, Fusion hosted the Guelph Gryphons. Guelph opened the scoring in the first but it didn’t take long for Fusion to bounce right back.

Ty Needham banged the puck in off the rebound with assists going to Ethan Kosempel and Ryan Gemin.

In the second Gemin scored a goal with assists going to Connor MacMillan and Hyndman. Guelph put a goal in shortly after to bring the lead back to one.

Needham popped in another one assisted by MacMillan and Kosempel. Less than three minutes later Needham got the hat trick with a little help from Gemin and Kosempel. Fusion added one more near the end of the second with a great rebound goal from Koen Ashdown assisted by Daniel Newton and Hyndman.

In the third, Guelph came back with one more goal but it was too little too late; the Fusion won 6-3.
