Ballet Jörgen Canada’s Anastasia, the Russian tale retold in the elegance and beauty of a ballet will be performed here at the River Run Centre Oct. 18 at 8pm.
Anastasia is the story of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova, youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II, of Russia, whose family was assassinated during the Bolshevik Revolution, and the mystery surrounding her disappearance and dubious reappearance, retold in Ballet Jörgen style. It is a story of heartache, passion, hope, and mystery.
Created by choreographer and Ballet Jörgen Canada’s artistic director Bengt Jörgen and set to an original full orchestral score by Canadian and Russian composer Ivan Barbotin, Anastasia made its 2007 world premiere at the Toronto Centre for the Arts, went on to an acclaimed National Tour and has toured North America successfully ever since.
