WELLINGTON COUNTY – Local police are asking break-in victims to check if their stolen items are among those recovered by a neighbouring police force.

FERGUS – Elizabeth Trafford's pleasant yet seemingly mundane weekend routine has, all of a sudden, changed her life. The Fergus retiree won the $40-million Lotto Max jackpot in the Dec. 10 draw.

ERIN – Police are once again warning people about scams after an Erin resident was bilked out of $50,000 last week. OPP officials say the victim received a phone call on Jan. 17 from someone posing as a fraud investigator from a local bank.

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Wellington County OPP officials say a Centre Wellington business called police last February to report it had lost $230,000 in "a phishing scam.”

GUELPH – The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington’s annual Trees for Tots fundraiser, which marked its 13th year in 2025, raised more than $85,000 to support the foundation's programming for children and youth.

MINTO – The snow that fell over the weekend was likely a welcome sight for snowmobilers, who could be spotted riding trails in rural areas around the county. 

CENTRE WELLINGTON – On Jan. 15 the Belwood and District Lions Club donated $1,000 to the Centre Wellington Food Bank with the help of community donations from events such as the club’s December 2024 breakfast with Santa.

ELORA – The Elora Centre for the Arts is singing the praises of the community and the Skyline Group of Companies for  helping the centre attain its most successful holiday campaign to date.

MINTO – The Blessings to You Centre Palmerston donates its revenue to in-need community organizations.
