Saugeen Conservation names new general manager

FORMOSA – The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority has appointed Erik Downing as its general manager/secretary-treasurer.

‘This was a cold case’: behind the investigation into the death of Monica Chisar

SOUTHGATE – More than a year after she was reported missing, Monica Chisar’s remains were discovered in a wooded area just north of Mount Forest. She was just 29 years old. A 19-month investigation led detectives to Hamilton, and a Kosovo expat on the run from U.S. authorities.

Report: it costs $315 per week to feed family of four

GUELPH – The average family of four can eat a nutritious diet for $315 per week, according to the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health monitoring of food affordability report that was presented to the board of health on Dec. 4.

GUELPH/ERAMOSA – On Dec. 9 at about 10:30am, a Wellington County OPP officer initiated a traffic stop on Wellington Road 124.

Erin council approves water rate increase, new interim wastewater fee

ERIN – Town council has approved a 3% increase in Erin’s water rate, as well as a new interim wastewater fee of $83 per month for Erin Glen residents.

Mapleton considers significant changes to land use permit system

MAPLETON – Council here is considering making big changes to its land use control system.  Permits are currently approved through a committee of adjustment, but council is considering scrapping this committee and instead moving to a community planning permit (CPP) system.
