WELLINGTON COUNTY – Jenna Lee Lethbridge recently launched her new book titled, A Dog’s Love at Roc ‘n’ Duke’s Mount Forest and Walkerton locations.
The self-published book is about her dog Axel, who was a family member of hers for 14 years and their journey together. She plans on getting the book to the Palmerston and Owen Sound Roc ‘n’ Duke locations soon as well.
“It feels amazing to get his story out there,” Lethbridge began. “That’s kind of what’s driving me, is to have it heard.”
Lethbridge says the book is not only to tell her story about her furry friend, but it is also meant to bring comfort to those who have lost a furry family member.
“I have seen how difficult or how hard that can be,” she said.
The story highlights Lethbridge finding security and comfort in the animals she had and was surrounded by while growing up. She says she talks about those animals and certain dogs in her upbringing until her dog Axel arrived.
Lethbridge’s full-time job is being a nurse, and she says a lot of over-thinking can come with that.
For this book, she had to figure out how to self-publish and spent several hours doing research online before landing on a company to help her.
‘From the heart’
“Instead of overthinking, I just kind of wrote from the heart,” stated Lethbridge.
“I just said [to myself] ‘this is where it all began,’” she said.
The up-and-coming author also told the Advertiser the book holds another special meaning for her, as her mother-in-law painted the picture on the cover.
