Audio system being considered

Councillors here are more than ready to listen to microphone proposals for the council chambers.

At the Feb. 29 council and staff meeting, town manager Lisa Hass said she had spoken to Brad Poulos of Erin Radio.

“This is his thing. He came up to the council chambers and had a look and is getting a written quote for us.”

Hass said Poulos believes a system could be put in for $2,500.

“He said he would even install it for us, at basically no charge.”

Hass said the system would allow the local radio station to broadcast the meetings if council wish.

Hass said the sound system would be fairly simple, with microphones connected to switches with councillors able to choose if the microphones would be always on or off.

Councillor Barb Tocher said they are not lapel mics.

There would be a microphone at the desk for delegations, and microphones for councillors and staff.

Mayor Lou Maieron said the price is better than the town’s original estimate of $10,000.
