An afternoon of free family-friendly educational activities is running here from June 7.
The Macdonald Stewart Art Centre offers two workshops by prominent regional artists, a behind-the-scenes tour of Evan Macdonald: A Painter’s Life and Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven, and more.
From 12:30 to 2pm is the first workshop Fortifying: A modern sculpture project. Guelph artist Susan Detwiler discusses her work and leads children on exploration of large-scale sculpture making in the Sculpture Park.
The second workshop is Off the Wall, from 2:30 to 4pm, and features painting with Don. Guelph artist Don Russell. He leads children into a mystery off-beat painting project.
From 4 to 5pm there will be a behind-the-scenes tour.
Flora Spencer, Evan Macdonald’s daughter, leads a tour of the exhibition A Painter’s Life, and share memories of her father.
All day there will be Master’s Drawing Easels in the Main Galleries.
