The grand opening of the Wellington Artists’ Gallery and Art Centre will take place May 3, at 2pm.
Its mission is to assist Guelph and Wellington County artists in developing their skills and marketing their work.
The Gallery will be open daily from 10am to 5pm from May until mid-November annually. Situated at 6142 County Road 29, the gallery has 1,000 square feet of floor space and 1,400 square feet of hanging space. As well as wall space, open areas allow for displays of art such as jewelry and textiles.
The ground floor provides a workshop and clean-up area and is already preparing for workshops this summer. The gallery is on the second floor.
The workshops will be conducted by a number of artists in various media.
Located on 38 acres of hardwood forest and wetlands, trails through the bush and to the edge of the wetlands, entice artists to take advantage of the opportunity to sketch or do plein-air painting.
In addition to the exhibition of regular artist members, guest artists will take advantage of the opportunity to display their works during month-long periods throughout the season. Plans are underway to expand into other artistic avenues.
