Artist offers drawing to raise money for Humboldt

For almost two weeks now, staff at Fergus Printing and Keltech Signs have been trying to raise money to help the community of Humbodlt, Saskatchewan.

Officials with the Fergus businesses felt an immediate need to help out those affected by the tragic bus crash on April 6 that left 16 people associated with the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team dead.

One of their ideas was to offer  a drawing of a Broncos player with angel wings as a thank you to those who donated to the cause.

Artist Deanna Brown, who lives in Bienfait, about 400km south of Humbodlt, has agreed to let others use her drawing free of charge for fundraising efforts.

“I have always drawn, ever since I was a little kid; my parents always encouraged my creativity,”  said Brown.

“My mom is also very artistic, so I am sure it comes from her.”

Born in Regina, Brown now runs an art and photography business out of her Bienfait home.
