Arthurs Fuel opens new Grand Valley facility

June 7 marked the grand opening of Arthurs Fuel’s new, state-of-the-art facility.

Approximately 250 people came out to be a part of the event including MP David Tilson, MPP Sylvia Jones, and Dufferin County Warden Rob Adams.

The new facility is located  at the corner of County Road 109 and County Road 5, just west of the stoplights. Tours were given of the office and bulk plant along with free popcorn, beef on a bun, sausage and hot dogs.

Terry, Brian and Scott Arthurs were all smiles and beaming with pride. The three men and their families have given their lives to get to this point with their business, building a new facility with a bulk plant for fuel, propane plant and cardlock available 24/7, 365 days a year with Visa, Mastercard or Arthurs Fuel card which also connects with over 50 gas bars across Ontario.

Arthurs Fuel Inc. is a family owned business that has been passed down through three generations of Arthurs. Originating in Harriston, Jack Arthurs began the business in 1954 operating as White Rose which later became Shell Oil.

At a young age, Terry decided he would like to follow in his dad’s footsteps, so he began working for him. At the age of 19, Terry made a significant change in his life by moving to Orangeville and opening his own business, Terry Arthurs Fuel.

Later, Terry’s two sons joined their father in the family business. Son Brian joined in 1989 and Scott in 1993.

In 2001, after 38 years in the business, Terry retired from Petro Canada.

Terry’s sons did not want to close the doors on a clientele base they had worked hard to obtain, so they kept the family name and became an independent fuel distributor.

After just one year of retirement, Terry joined his sons in their business, which currently employs 42 people; a major increase from the one man show that started it all.

Terry, Brian and Scott thank all of their customers and staff.
