Arthur Optimist Club to host Canada Day celebrations

ARTHUR – The Arthur Optimist club is putting on a Canada Day weekend full of events at the Arthur and Area Community Centre (158 Domville Street).

On June 28 there will be a ticketed/licensed event with three bands/performers: Johnny Panic & The Pushbuttons, Cara Smith and Bon Jovi Forever.

The show starts at 8pm and tickets are available at eventbrite.ca/e/arthur-optimist-club-canada-day-weekend-concert-tickets-810847254967 for $33.28.

On June 29, Men’s and Mixed three pitch tournaments will take place all day. Call 519-803-3809 to register a team.

Also on June 29 at 1pm is a horseshoe tournament. Participating in the horseshoe tournament costs $10 and participants should show up by 12:40pm.   

There will also be a free swim starting at 1pm on June 29.

At 9pm, DJ Steve Leask will host a “Pavilion Dance,” with fireworks to follow at “dusk.”

The festivities continue on June 30 with more three-pitch softball tournaments, these ones for families and businesses. Contact 519-803-3809 to register a team.

At 1pm on June 30 there will be live music with Drew Moore.

There will also be a free outdoor screening of the movie Kung Fu Panda 4 on diamond ‘B’ at dusk. The movie is sponsored by Get in Touch for Hutch.
