WELLINGTON NORTH – Ice rentals at the Arthur and Mount Forest arenas are now open to local residents, groups and organizations.
Township officials announced on Nov. 4 the move to phase two of its plan to reopen recreational facilities.
The municipality initially announced its “gradual approach” to reopening with the launch of phase one on Sept. 25, which opened ice rentals to just minor sports organizations.
The second phase includes ice rentals for private organizations and the third phase will explore programming opportunities.
“Recognizing the significant benefits to physical and mental health provided by physical activity, the township is working towards offering indoor walking opportunities in both Arthur and Mount Forest by mid-November,” states the Nov. 4 press release.
Township officials are also reminding residents that local trails are open and halls/meeting spaces in Arthur and Mount Forest are open for public rentals.
“Renters can expect a different experience when visiting our community centres as safety measures, such as physical distancing, masks and hand sanitizer are in place,” officials say.
“Rentals of community halls and meeting space will be made at the discretion of the township.”
All Wellington North municipal facilities were closed to the public by March 16 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex, Arthur and Area Community Centre, Arthur and Mount Forest fire halls, Damascus Hall, the Arthur Seniors Hall and the Kenilworth municipal office.
