The Arthur Food Bank recently received two Community Improvement Grants through local Union Gas employees Mike Winter and Don Watkins.
A recent press release states, “We are very fortunate, not only to have such caring and committed community members like Don and Mike, but to also have progressive companies like Union Gas and Spectra Energy who see the value in community sponsorship and volunteering.”
This $2,000 donation helped to purchase food at the Arthur Food Bank and it will be delivered and stored on the shelves to help those in need.
The Arthur Food Bank helps provide a three-day food supply, to an average of 100 people in the community each month, including families and seniors.
It helps bridge the difference, for many who are living on social assistance, or just having a difficult time making ends meet.
When heating bills get too high or new shoes are needed for children to start the school year, the Arthur Food Bank is there to help supplement the grocery bill to make room for life’s unexpected expenses.
The food bank is 100 per cent volunteer run and exists solely on the support of the community and corporations such as Union Gas and Spectra Energy.
