The Arthur and Area Skating Club together with Skate Canada- will be the hosts of the 2014 area skating competition WESKATE which takes place from Jan. 3 to 5, at the Arthur and Area Community Center.
This event will feature nearly 400 participants from 15 area skating clubs that make up the Western Area of Skate Canada Central Ontario.
Weskate is a “Fun Competition” with events available for every skater, from the tiny Learn to Skate group, through to adult events, group events, special olympics events and everything in between.
The competition will run daily from approximately 8am to 8pm Saturday and Sunday.
Vendors will be set up in the main hall as well as great food available.
A competition of this calibre is a wonderful opportunity for the village of Arthur, bringing so many visitors in to enjoy the skating as well as local shops and restaurants.
The volunteers running this event have been working hard to get everything into place for the big upcoming weekend.
The idea is to make sure the participants, coaches, officials and fans will leave the competition with a sense of what the community of Arthur is all about.
