It’s that time of the year again, when all art lovers and curious day trippers descend on the two-acre property surrounding the Elora Centre for the Arts.
Art in the Yard is a two-day event, running from July 12 and 13 from 10am to 5pm, rain or shine. With artists exhibiting from across Ontario and beyond, the sixth annual event seeks to have something for everyone.
Whether looking for a special piece for a home or a unique gift, this originals only showcase of art will offer ample choice. Artists will be on hand to promote their work and answer questions.
Find out first-hand how encaustic art is made, what goes into that unusual glaze, how paintings, weavings, sculpture and much more are conceived and created. Come for lunch with offerings from Grand River Catering, and Van Galis Restaurant. Top if off with Mapletons Organic ice cream from The River, all on site. As an added attraction, there are live musicians and guests can tour through the Elora Centre for the Arts, take in the Gallery – Dream show, or sign up for the Centre’s summer and fall courses.
There will be a children’s area where kids of all ages can hang out and indulge their creative interests. As a new feature this year, there will also be an adults’ creative area. And when all that is done, take a stroll through the historic village, join the fun at Fair in the Square on Saturday, or a walk into the Elora Gorge.
Art in the Yard is an annual fundraising event for the Elora Centre for the Arts, located at the corner of Mill Street East and Melville Street Just follow the signs. Admission is $2, and children are free.
