Arnott visits council; offers aid in Toronto

Waterloo-Wellington MPP Ted Arnott paid a visit to Centre Wellington council on Monday night and found himself asked to speak.
Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj asked Arnott to address council.
Arnott said he was simply there to observe proceedings, but he noted that he expects to work with the township council in anything it needs from Queen’s Park.
“I’m just indicating my excitement to work with you over the next four years,” Arnott said.
The provincial and municipal elections were held only a month apart this year, and since the municipal terms now last four years, they will likely continue to run closely as long as there is a majority government and a fixed election date at the provincial level.
Arnott promised to take Centre Wellington’s issues to the legislature.
Arnott then learned quickly that population projections from the county are one issue, as is forced growth that is beyond the capacity of the township to handle if it comes too quickly.
Ross-Zuj said she expects the township will be in touch with him on a regular basis.
