Area soccer clubs unite to form single organization

Minor soccer organizations in Harriston and Palmerston are amalgamating to form the Minto United Soccer Club (MUSC).

A minor soccer program was not offered in Palmerston last season, while the Harriston club was only able to offer soccer at three age levels in 2013.

This year, the two groups will join forces and play out of the North Perth Soccer League, using soccer pitches located in Palmerston and Clifford.

Youngsters from throughout the municipality and the surrounding area are eligible to join the club. Early registration dates are set for Feb. 15, from 9am to noon and Feb. 21 from 6:30 to 9pm at the Palmerston arena and Feb. 28 from 6 to 9pm at the Harriston arena. The club will offer soccer in all age ranges from Kiddie Kickers to U-18. The president of the new organization is Rick Werbner of Palmerston and vice president is Glen Hall of Harriston.

“We’re just excited to be back and moving forward with the united club … We just want it to be all-inclusive,” said MUSC treasurer Linda Koepke. “We’re looking forward to some new players.”
