On April 17, the Masons of Wellington District welcomed the Grand Master and other visitors from across the province to the Guelph Place Banquet Hall.
The Grand Master, M. W. Bro. Allan J. Petrisor, gave a thought provoking presentation on his perspective of Masonry in today’s world. Approximately 180 Masons and their guests from across the province were in attendance.
Freemasonry is the oldest fraternity known to man, encouraging goodwill and charity towards all mankind and has members from virtually every occupation and profession. It inspires personal growth and recognizes human equality. There are over 52,000 Masons in Ontario and 600 lodges.
Through the registered charity known as the Masonic Foundation of Ontario, Masons provided over $500,000 to worthwhile causes such as funds to the hearing impaired, scholarships, bursaries, hospitals, and other health care needs and research. Each year, over 40,000 blood donations are recorded on behalf of the Masons throughout Ontario.
The 12 Masonic Lodges in the Wellington region have been an asset to the community through the years, by supporting the N.R. Richards bursary, awarded to graduating high school students in Wellington, hosting MasoniChip child identification clinics (see www.masonichip.ca/) and other projects.
