An architectural firm has been contracted to manage the design of the new Louise Marshall Hospital Emergency Department and Minto Rural Health Centre.
North Wellington Health Care (NWHC) announced Sept. 26 that after a detailed review process Dialog has been selected over five other architectural firms. The Alberta-based company has offices in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary and Edmonton.
“Dialog is one of Canada’s leading health care planning and design firms,” said David Craig, NWHC board chair (interim), noting the company has worked on several rural projects such as the Listowel Memorial Hospital redevelopment, North Perth Family Health Team and CFB Borden Health care Facility.
“We are excited to begin work with the architects and continue to move forward with our plans to build a new emergency department for Louise Marshall Hospital and the Minto Rural Health Centre,” said Jerome Quenneville, NWHC president and CEO.
“Dialog is looking forward to working in partnership with North Wellington Health Care to not only transform its facilities; but also meet the complex needs of its communities, support their dedicated staff and leadership, and help them achieve new levels of excellence,” said David Cerny, Dialog principal.
The company states they accomplish their goals by “enabling multidisciplinary teams to collaborate with their clients and communities and by unleashing the power of an interactive design process that includes architecture, engineering, interior design and urban planning.”
The new 11,000 square foot health centre at the Palmerston hospital site will create some medical office space designed to aid in the recruitment and accommodation of new physicians, as well as space for health care partners such as the Minto Mapleton Family Health Team and Trellis Mental Health and Community Care Access Centres.
The redesign of the emergency department at Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest will include ambulatory care facilities.
