This month, the League of Canadian Poets invites us to celebrate National Poetry Month using the theme Family.
Writing poetry is an amazing way to explore sometimes joyous and sometimes complicated subjects.
Need some inspiration? Check out some how-to poetry books for kids at your local library:
- Great Tips on Writing Poetry by Yvonne Pearson;
- Writing a Poem by Cecilia Minden; and
- How to Write a Poem by Kwame Alexander.
Do you enjoy reading poetry more than writing it? Enjoy it read aloud to you with a digital audiobook on our Libby app, including books with poems by historical poets like Emily Dickinson, William Blake and Elizabeth Barret Browning, and more contemporary poets like Rupi Kaur, Zetta Elliot and Mary Lambert.
Continue the celebration of family with Ancestry Library Edition, the premiere online resource for anyone doing genealogy research. It can be used for free from our public computers or wi-fi. To help answer your more complicated genealogical questions, the Harriston and Mount Forest branches will be hosting “Ask an Archivist” programs this month.
