Wellington North council is revising its application for infrastructure funding in Mount Forest.
The water and sewer committee minutes noted that a letter was sent requesting to move funds from the Mount Forest disposal plant COMRIF grant to be used for the reconstruction of the Durham Street sewage pumping station. COMRIF is the Canada Ontario Municipal Rural infrastructure Fund program.
Recently, the township applied under the Build Canada program for funding to reconstruct Normanby Street, from Durham Street to Wellington Street, which needs to be done to allow the municipality to proceed with the pumping station reconstruction. Williamson said the Durham Street pumping station needed to be included because COMRIF will not allow the municipality to transfer funds from another project to the pumping station. The project has a price tag of $3.1-million – $2-million for the pumping station with the rest for street construction.
