ABERFOYLE – The Optimist Club of Puslinch is planning the 7th “Annual Family Day Winter Classic Weekend” Feb. 16 to 18.
The weekend starts off with a “four-on-four adult hockey tournament” on Feb. 16 and 17.
Hot food and beverages will be available in the Puslinch Community Centre during the tournament.
Monday Feb. 18, is the big day for kids of all ages.
Organizers have many activities planned, starting at 11am with clowns and face painting, along with special entertainment booked from 11:30am to 12:30pm.
The Optimist Recreation Centre will be open from 11am onward. The gym will be available for use for those who wish to play pickup basketball, volleyball, dodge ball or other indoor activities.
These activities will have adult supervision to ensure safe and fair play for all.
Rinkside are even more activities and games, followed by open skating with no sticks in the afternoon.
All the favorites from last year will be back, plus new activities, officials say.
Horse drawn sleighs and the antique Bombardier school bus will give everyone rides throughout the day (depending on weather).
Activity centres in the park will encourage young and old to join in the winter fun with archery, golf, catapult and human bowling.
A big fire will keep people warm and organizers will also offer campfire music. A scavenger hunt will round out the afternoon.
All events and activities on Monday are free for everyone and the kids get free hotdogs and hot chocolate at lunch time in the community centre.
Additional hot food will be available for purchase.
Proceeds from the hockey tournament and food sales will help fund the weekend.
