Anne and Gilbert: the Musical launches Elora theatre season

The love story must-see for Green Gable followers of all ages opens at the Fergus Grand Theatre Nov. 7 and runs through Nov. 16 including Sunday matinees.

Director Deb Stanson helms the musical with help from music directors Kara Shaw and Jill Peterson, choreographer Rachel Parent, and costume designers Suzanne Trivers and Maggie Parent. Stanson is no stranger to the Anne tales as she has also treated audiences to Anne of Green Gables at the Western Ontario Drama League in 2010 and Anne of Avonlea the next season. This production, she says, is her last Anne play.

Anne and Gilbert: the Musical is the story of Anne Shirley’s journey into young adulthood, chronicling her first job, university and intermittent  romance with Gilbert Blythe. It features live music and is based on L.M. Montgomery’s classic novels Anne of the Island and Anne of Avonlea.

There will be special reduced prices for students, children and seniors.

Season tickets for all three shows are $45 dollars for seniors or $51 for adults.

Dixie Swim Club will take the stage Feb. 6 to 15 and Spring Planting May 1 to 10.  Dixie Swim Club is a comedy featuring five women whose friendship began many years ago. Every year they reunite at a summer cottage away from husbands, kids and jobs.   Spring Planting is set in a small Ontario town and chronicles the challenge of losing a loved one.

Season tickets for ECT’s  42nd season of “singing, swimming and seeding” are now available at the Fergus Grand Theatre box office. Call 519-787-1981 or visit www.fergusgrandtheatre.ca.
