Amir Quality Meats hosts groundbreaking expansion event

ARTHUR – Local dignitaries, political leaders, family and friends all joined the Aziz family in celebrating the Amir Quality Meats business expanding into Arthur on Oct. 10.

Co-owners Sherry and Tony Aziz invited esteemed guests to join them in breaking the ground on at their new building site in Arthur.

They pride themselves on being one of Canada’s largest independent processors and distributors of zabiha halal meat.

They now have the title of being the first Muslim owned and operated, federally licensed, vertically intergrated, class A primary processing facility in Canada.

This expansion will create more jobs and economic growth in the community, stated Sherry Aziz.

The Arthur building will be 80,000sqft. Guests such as MPP Matthew Rae, councillor Steve McCabe, councillor Penny Renken, Chicken Farmers of Ontario CEO Denise Hockaday and CFO Murray Opsteen all attended the event.
