Residents interested in land ambulance issues in the Erin area may want to mark Oct. 29 on their calendars.
That evening, at 7:30pm in the Shamrock Room at Centre 2000, Guelph’s Director of Emergency Services Shawn Armstrong will run a public information meeting on local ambulance issues.
The county and city’s joint land ambulance committee recently passed a resolution to consider a new ambulance in Erin in next year’s budget, despite claims from Guelph Mayor Karen Farbridge and a report from Armstrong that suggested such a move would improve response times in Erin by just 2.5 minutes.
Both Farbridge and Armstrong noted simultaneous dispatch of the fire department would improve response times by about 10 minutes, but Erin officials said the department does not have the physical or financial capability to respond to an increased number of calls.
Farbridge was the one who recommended the information meeting in Erin.
