Members of the Alma Women’s Institute shared their Christmas spirit by making donations to several community organizations.
Financial support was given to the three local food banks, family counseling and power of H.O.P.E.
Nineteen poinsettias were also distributed to shut-ins by several members.
Members gathered around the Christmas tree and fire burning brightly in the fireplace at the cozy home of Ruth Grose.
“Santa Pat’ was in charge of the Christmas program, and she was assisted by many elf members. The program included all the reasons for Christmas celebrations, the birth of baby Jesus, the history of Christmas traditions, sing-a-longs, winter weather, love of friends and family and Santa gave a small gift to each member.
President Helen Moffatt and secretary Wilma Snowe conducted a short business meeting, recording members’ volunteer hours and calling to roll answered by favourite Christmas music.
Silent Night, O Holy Night and White Christmas were high on the list, along with many other favourites.
The lunch conveners Wilma Snowe and Margaret Hall served a Christmas pudding complete with sauce, plus a variety of Christmas cookies.
