Wellington North’s Manager of Public Works Gary Williamson told council, “Our wells are producing the water we need and not interfering with private wells.”
Williamson told council recently that each year the municipality must supply reports on permits to take water. The reports are required by the provincial government.
The 2009 reports for Arthur and Mount Forest were completed by R.J. Burnsides, the township engineering firm.
“No issues were identified regarding the township wells having a major impact on the aquifer and interfering with water levels in the private wells that we monitor.”
Williamson explained that Burnsides uses information from municipal pumping records, and monitoring wells within the municipality to see if there is an effect of the pumping on private wells or the aquifer.
“It’s all good,” Williamson said.
